A weekend of drama, debates and political discussion inspired by the writings of James Fintan Lalor;  a fitting tribute to a significant national figure who

engaged directlywith the political climate of his time, fighting for land rights onbehalf of the oppressed

Irish farming community and the working classes.

Opening Celebration: The Journey 1916-2016 Music, song, dance, drama, poetry & prose highlights from the Laois 2016 commemorative programme.

Featuring Music Generation Laois Harp Ensemble. Produced by Frances Harney.

Join the live audience and debate on themes including:

1916: What are we remembering and Why? Chaired by Diarmaid Ferriter

Hedge School in association with History Ireland

Were the ideals of the 1916 Rising subsequently betrayed? Chaired by Tommy Graham

Speakers include: Robert Ballagh, Conor Brady, Catriona Crowe, Mary McAuliffe, Susan McKay, Conor McNamara, Eve Morrison.
