Dunamaise Arts Centre set to ignite the Arts on Culture Night to celebrate our new logo, branding and new website!
We have just announced an extravaganza of celebration for Culture Night to kick start a fantastic season of events with their new beautiful new brand and fabulous new user-friendly website.
Culture Night, which takes place on Friday 22nd September from 6 to 10.30pm will be a celebration of free events across our country and we are delighted to present an amazing array of festivities to join in ONE NIGHT FOR ALL to Explore Experience and Enjoy culture and the arts!
The Culture Night festivities at Dunamaise will be headlined with the Irish premiere of new compositions by NOTIFY with guests Séamus and Caoimhe Uí Fhlatharta from 8pm. NOTIFY is a musical creation of the highest quality between six Irish traditional and jazz musicians, lead by concertina player Padraig Rynne. Following a ‘sold out’ concert at Celtic Connections earlier this year, NOTIFY teams up with Sean-Nós musicians Séamus and Caoimhe Uí Fhlatharta; harp, fiddle and Sean-Nós singing for this very special event to celebrate Culture Night.
Local artists Paddy Critchley and Greg Hallahan, who both currently, individually, have their work exhibited at Dunamaise Arts Centre will be there on the night.
From 6pm, Artist Greg Hallahan whose work is exhibited in the arts centre’s café gallery space will give a demonstration of his unique art style that he creates from recycled corrugated cardboard. Call in and chat to the artist while he shows and explains the artwork and the idea behind using such an everyday material while representing Ireland’s prehistoric structures that dot our ancient Green Isle.
From 7pm, meet Paddy Critchley, a painter with a keen interest in the theatre of the absurd, installation plays an integral part in Paddy’s practise, with ideas of socialism, livelihood and the painting and decorating trade, are among subjects explored in his artworks. Paddy’s exhibition, Ragged Trousers, will open at 7pm.
Meet TV personality and Influencer Mary-Claire Fitzpatrick (@MCLuvs2Laugh) from Rathdowney who will be there on the night. While, members of Portlaoise Musical Society will be there to launch tickets going on sale for their sensational 2023 show, ‘Made in Dagenham’, with DJ Steegan banging out some musical tunes.
