Kathy Tynan - Keep Some Steady Friends Around

Dunamaise Arts Centre looks forward to hosting this selection of works by acclaimed artist Kathy Tynan, presented by Kevin Kavanagh Gallery, Dublin. An Artist Talk will be scheduled for a date to be announced, welcoming audiences to Dunamaise to meet the artist and hear discussions of her practice and career to date.
Kathy Tynan (b.1984) graduated from NCAD in 2008 with a BA in Fine Art Painting and in 2010 with an MA entitled Art in the Contemprary World. Tynan makes loosely representational paintings which focus on details and particularities of everyday environments. She has exhibited widely both in Ireland and abroad. Recent solo and selected two person exhibitions include Two Painters, Highlanes Gallery, Drogheda, (2020), Luminous Twitch, The Lab, Dublin (2019), Green Like Now, Kevin Kavanagh, Dublin (2019), Atonal Supersound, Kevin Kavanagh, Dublin (2017); Recent group shows include Dubliners, 6th Biennial of Painting, Zagreb (2021), The Way That We Went, Ballinglen, Museum of Art, Ballycastle, Co. Mayo (2021), Home: Being and Belonging in Contemporary Ireland, Glucksman, Cork (2021), The Hennessey-Craig Shortlist, RHA Dublin, (2019), Everything is in Everything, Sirius Arts Centre, Cork (2019), Traversées du Marais, Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris (2018) Trophy Hunters, Dada Post, Berlin (2018); Constellations, Kuvataide Academia, Helsinki (2018); Many Worlds, Centre Cultural Irlandais, Paris (2017) and There Are Little Kingdoms, Mermaid Arts Centre, Co. Wicklow (2016). Tynan completed a three-month residency at the Cité International des Arts, Paris and published her first book of paintings, Proud & Strong All Day Long in 2018.
In 2020, Kathy was shortlisted for the Zurich Portrait Prize, Crawford Art Gallery. In 2019 she was the winner of Dublin City Council’s Visual Arts Bursary and a residency in St. Patrick’s Lodge, Dublin in 2020. Tynan is represented by Kevin Kavanagh, Dublin.
