Visual Arts Submissions

We host exhibitions with related workshops and talks, professional development seminars and networking events for visual artists each season.

Work by professional artists, curators, collectives and arts organisations are presented in solo or group shows, as well as local community art projects and work by art students.

Gallery tours and Artists Talks engage people of all ages to explore the work on show, as well as to learn more about artists careers, creative practices and processes.

Selection Process

Open Call for Gallery Exhibitions

Exhibitions are selected through a mix of Open Calls, direct invitation and collaboration on community focused projects. Each year exhibitions feature work in a variety of media, often complementing the performing arts programme or the calendar of local and national events.

An Open Call for Gallery Exhibitions is made every 18-24 months and applications are assessed by a panel of Visual Arts professionals. We work with selected artists to ensure agreeable timelines, installation arrangements, audience engagement opportunities and promotion of the exhibition.

The next general Open Call for Gallery Exhibitions will be announced in early autumn 2023. Guidelines and application details will be published here at that time.

Annual Open Submission Group Show

Each autumn, our Annual Open Submission Group Show is selected by a guest curator, with a prize offered to one selected artist. We invite all artists, working in all media, with an interest in exhibiting work in one of the Midlands premiere arts centres.

Artists Showcase at Dunamaise Café

This is a less formal, month long presentation of a small number of art works, suitable for a general audience and a cafe setting.
