The story follows famous silent-film star Don Lockwood and his glamorous co-star Lina Lamont at the moment when “talking pictures” are beginning to transform the movie industry. Don has the charm, the talent and the perfect Hollywood smile, but Lina’s unforgettable voice creates a very funny problem when their latest silent film must suddenly become a musical. Enter Kathy Selden, a talented young performer whose beautiful voice may be exactly what the studio needs. As friendships form, secrets emerge and romance begins to blossom, the cast discovers that making movie magic is far more complicated than it looks.Packed with comedy, colourful characters, energetic dancing and classic songs, Singin’ in the Rain is a joyful celebration of performance, friendship and following your dreams.

Audiences can look forward to unforgettable numbers including “Good Morning,” “Make ’Em Laugh” and, of course, the legendary title song.This production will give our TY students the chance to shine both onstage and behind the scenes. From acting, singing and dancing to costumes, props, lighting, sound and set design, there will be an important role for everyone who wants to get involved.
